Run Against Racism 5K raises $3500, get local news attention.

Last weekend the New Mexico Brujos teamed up with the Atomic Sisters Women’s Rugby team, Albuquerque Roller Derby team and Duke City Roller Derby to stage a 5k Run Against Racism to raise money for Black Lives Matter and raise awareness of institutional racism. The event proved to be a success on both fronts. Nearly 100 members of all 4 teams and their family and friends competed in the virtual 5k over the weekend, and the event raised $3490 towards the local Black Lives Matter chapter. The event caught the attention of our friends over at KOB 4 News, who ran a story about the event. The Brujos own Dustin Soflin parlayed his weatherman like good looks into an appearance in story and did the team and the event proud. In a summer during which no actual rugby has been allowed to take place the Brujos have continued to find ways to work together as a team, and raise money for good and just causes while they're at it, good job everyone! The NM Brujos would also like to express their extreme gratitude to the Duke City Roller Derby team, the Atomic Sisters Women’s Rugby team, and the Albuquerque Roller Derby team for including us in this fun and worthwhile event. Let's do it again soon!
