Brujos Fall 2018 season in review and looking toward Spring 2019
Maybe it started at Denver 7s. After a win-less 2017/2018 Rio Grande Rugby Union season, a Brujos 7's team went on a tear at the Denver 7's tournament this summer and took 2nd place against some stout competition. Perhaps that should have been a clue to the reversal of fortune that led the Brujos to a 2 and 1 record this past autumn and sole possession of first place going into the Spring 2019 season. The Brujos started this surprising turnaround by taking a narrow 43 to 32 victory up in Santa Fe. A close tough 19 to 15 loss to the Varks followed. However the boys in blue finished the fall in style with a 46 to 26 walloping of El Paso. The Brujos also went undefeated at the High Desert Tournament in October, only losing the title in a late afternoon boat race. In addition the Brujos also teamed up with their fellow NM rugby teams to bring two titles from Arizona rugby tournaments this fall. It seems, for now at least, that some real blue magic and a culture of winning has returned to the Brujos organization, and the Spring 2019 season should be exciting and something not to be missed.
Speaking of the spring, the 2019 Spring Rio Grande Rugby Union schedule has been released:
March 16
Brujos at Aardvarks 1 PM
March 23
Brujos at El Paso Scorpions 1 PM
April 6th

Other Brujos events upcoming this winter/spring are the 3rd annual Rugby is a Drag, the Superbowl Fat Boy Run and the very first (of many) Memorial Day Wine 7's and Rio Grande Valley Youth 7's tournaments presented by the New Mexico Brujos.
Stay tuned to this spot for all things Brujos and happy holidays!
