The New Mexico Brujos beat the Portland Pigs Saturday in the Sweet Sixteen, but fell to Life West on Sunday in the Great Eight.
Turns out eight wasn't enough. The New Mexico Brujos magical playoff run-on the heals of a dream season, no less-came to an end last Sunday at the hands of Life West Rugby in Henderson, Nevada.
After beating the Portland Pigs 35 to 28 on Saturday, the Brujos had a chance to advance to the national semi-finals with a win Sunday. However, it wasn't to be and the Brujos playoff run ended with a 22 to 26 loss.
"It was an emotional rollercoaster" said Brujo Dorian Bunn, not of just the final, but the entire NM Brujos playoff experience. Four games over three weeks in two states? Yeah Dorian, that sounds about right!
Whilst the Brujos are equal parts proud of their accomplishment and bummed that it stopped one game short of the final four, they are most thankful to all their sponsors and supporters. We really couldn't have done it without all of you and look forward to boosting you up like you've boosted us.
At the beginning of the season nobody thought the Brujos would make it this far, nobody except the Brujos that is. We've always known we had it in us, it was about time we proved it. And now that this team has done things no other Brujos team has, sky's the limit! See you next season, the work starts now. Que Viva!
