NM Brujos beat ABQ Varks in a nail-bitter to close out their 40th anniversary celebration weekend.

What a way to celebrate an anniversary! Despite trailing at halftime 12 to 3, the New Mexico Brujos mounted an impressive comeback scoring 19 points in the second half to narrowly edge their crosstown rivals. 22 to 19. Cameron Butcher, Marcell and Isaiah all found the try zone on Saturday, with Leon Wilson converting 2 of 3 tries and making a penalty kick in the first half. Considering that the NM Brujos lost to this same Varks team on two weeks prior at Santa Fe Fiesta 10s tournament and this win looks even sweeter and bodes well for the rest of the upcoming fall season which continues in a few weeks when the Brujos travel to Flagstaff on October 9th. The New Mexico Brujos would like to thank their many "old boys" Brujos of the past that also showed to participate in the old boys earlier in the day and everyone that cam out to the golf tournament on Friday and wizardfest later Saturday evening. This weekend was truly a testament to the immense family that the NM Brujos have created as team over the last 40 years. Here's to the next 40! Que Viva!

Next up for the Brujos:

At Flagstaff on October 9th.
