Brujos and Varks team up as ABQ Dukes to dominate Flagstaff 10's

Crosstown rivals and frequent frenemies the NM Brujos and ABQ Aardvarks, who just two weeks ago went head to head in a very competitive, if not occasionally chippy, Rio Grande rugby union match, teamed up last weekend at the Flagstaff 10's Tournament. Competing as the ABQ Dukes, the combo team from Burque won all three of their games, taking home first place in the social division of the 38th Annual Northern Arizona Rugby 10's Tournament. The Dukes beat the Camels in the opening game, 66 to 14, blanked the Storm in the second game, 45 to 0, and downed the Thunderbirds 47 to 10 in the third and final game. While this temporary detente isn't quite on the level of Adams and Jefferson, it's an encouraging reminder that at the end of the day, it's all just rugby.

Next up for the Brujos:

The Brujos and Varks will no doubt put aside their newfound bromance and resume their rivalrous ways at the annual-ish High Desert Rugby Classic, this Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Bullhead Park in Albuquerque, NM. The tournament is all day with Food trucks, rugby tents, a beer garden, physio massage therapists, and even a mouth guard booth! Registration is now open @abqrugby.com. First place in each bracket wins a $300 Gift Certificate to Ballsoutrugby!
